お願い（依頼）するとき・受けるときの英会話

“Hi, will you lend me your grammar book, please?
ねぇ、文法の本貸してもらえる？

“Sure. Here you go.”
もちろん。どうぞ。

“Thanks. Would it be okay if I return it an hour later?”
ありがとう。これ一時間後に返しても良い？

“No problem.”
大丈夫だよ。

みなさんこんにちはChaです。８つ目のビデオレッスンですよ。今回はBrazzy先生と一緒です。

Part of achieving natural everyday speech is knowing how to express requests and also how to respond to them.
自然な日常会話を身に着けるために、お願いするときまたはその返答の表現の仕方を学びましょう。

It is important to be polite when you ask for something. You can make a request by using:
何かをお願いするときは敬意を持った言い方が大切です。

Can you….?
Could you…?
Will you…?
Would you…?

Can you show me the way to the rest room, please?
お手洗いの行きかたを教えてもらえますか？

Possible response to this request are:
このお願いへの返答の仕方は

“Sure. This way.” (saying yes)
いいですよ。こちらです。（はいという意味で使われる）

“I’m afraid I’m in hurry. Sorry.” (saying no)
申し訳ありませんが今急いでます。（いいえという意味で使われる）

Could you help me carry all these boxes?
これらの箱を運ぶのを手伝ってもらえますか？

You can answer this request with:
こんな風に返答できます。

“Yes, of course” in the positive. And “Sorry but I’m kinda busy right now” in the negative.
「はい、もちろん。」と肯定的に、そして「すみません。今ちょっと忙しくて」と断る表現です。

You could also say “Could you possibly…” For example, “Could you possibly help me with this exercise?”
また“Could you possibly…”とも言えます。例えば「この練習問題を手伝ってもらえませんか？」

Remember that could is more polite than can.
CouldはCanよりも丁寧な表現ということを覚えていてくださいね。

And could and can are followed by a verb without to.
そしてCouldとCanはtoなしで動詞のあとにつきます。

Will you open the door for me, please?
ドアを開けてもらえますか？

You could say “Certainly”. Or “I would if I could but my hands are full” if you cannot open the door.
「よろこんで。」や「お答えしたいのですが両手がふさがっていて開けられません」と返答できます。

Would you please email me your address now?
あなたの住所をメールで送っていただけますか？

You could answer with “Sure. Give me a minute.”
「もちろん。少しお待ちくださいね。」と答えることができます。

Or if you can’t do it at the moment, you could say “Well, the problem is I’m at the beach right now and don’t have an access to the Internet. Would it be okay if I email it later this evening?”
また、すぐにできない場合は「えーと、今ビーチでインターネットがないので夜でもよろしいですか？」と答えることができます。

The other end could answer with: “Sure, no problem” or “no worries”.
ほかの返答方法としてSure「もちろん」no problem「問題ないですよ」no worries「大丈夫です」等があります。

Other expressions are Do you mind and Would you mind.
その他の表現としてDo you mind と Would you mindがあります。

“Do you mind if I borrow your pen?”
「あなたのペンを借りても良いですか？」

The response to this is either:
返答として

“No, I don’t mind.” (This is a positive response. It means that I can lend you my pen.)
いいですよ。（肯定で私はあなたにペンを貸しますよという意味です）

Or

“Yes” (This is a negative response, which means I don’t want to lend you my pen.)
貸せません。（否定で、ペンを貸したくないという意味です）

“Would you mind turning the air con off? I’m freezing.”
エアコンを止めてもらえますか？凍えそうなの。

Remember that would you mind is followed by –ing or a gerund.
Would you mindの後に続くのはingや動名詞です。

Possible response to this request is “No, not at all.” Or “Of course not”
このリクエストに答える返答としては「かまいませんよ。」や「もちろんです。」となります。

Do not use “please” when using “Do you mind” and “Would you mind”. These are already polite enough.
Do you mindやWould you mindを使うときはPleaseは付けません。十分に丁寧な表現になっています。
